Born and raised in Lagos, Sister Nkechi, Auntie Joy, Auntie Lagos, Big Mummy as she was fondly called was the first Child of Davidson Okonkwo and Comfort Uzoamaka Chime.  

Joy Nkechi Agatha Chidobem

Joy Nkechi Agatha Chidobem (nee Chime) was born in Lagos on the 14th day of January 1950 to the family of Davidson Okonkwo Chime (late) and Comfort Uzoamaka Chime.  She was the first of eight children to be born to her parents.
She commenced her Primary education at Araromi Baptist School Moloney, Lagos from 1955 – 1960, from where she proceeded to Anglican Girls Secondary School Ogidi.

She was fluent in multiple languages including English, Yoruba and Agonyi, Igbo and French.Her working career spans a period of about 31 years in the Civil Service rising through ranks at the following agencies:

Marriage Life

As she was fondly called by her spouse, she married the charming and altruistic young love of her life, the late Engr. Sylvanus Uzodinma Patrick Chidobem (SUPAC) on the 22nd of May 1976 and they were graciously blessed with five (5) glorious children.

Nneka Silvia Olubunmi Ude, Nwando Lynda Taiye Okakpu, Chinwe Kehinde Maureen Obialo, Engr. Chijioke Udemezue Idowu Chidobem and Sylvanus Ekenechukwu Alaba Chidobem and eight (8) grandchildren

Obiora Ude, Chinenye Ude, Chiamaka Ude, Chimamaka Tonia Chidobem, Chukwuemelie Asher Chidobem, Chukwuebuka Michael Okakpu, Isabelle Chika Okakpu and Chamberlain Obialo Jr.

Mourning the passing of this wonderful daughter of Zion are her aged mother, Ezinne Comfort Uzoamaka Chime, as well as her brothers, Ononenyi Nnaemeka Chime, Chikodinaka Ozoemena Chime, and Forster Ejikeme Chime, and sisters, Sophia Nnenna Ene, and Nkiruka Nonyelum Ekpeluchi Chime-Nwankwo.  Her sons-in-law, Chibunze Ude, Nnamdi Okakpu, and Chamberlain Obialo; daughters-in-law; Mary Chijioke Chidobem and Chinelo Alexzandra Chidobem. Her brother-law Prof. Joseph Chidobem and her sisters-in-law are Nono Grace Chiweyite-Ejike and Dr. Uzzi Ojibe, her adopted daughter; Uzoamaka Isichei (nee Obueze), so many uncles, aunties, cousins, friends, and well-wishers.

Mummy Joy was a beautiful, vibrant soul, confident, and full of zest. She always moved with a burst of energy, and could relate with any one on any level, high or low, bringing smiles, laughter, joy, and light to all around her.  She excelled in everything she did.

We have truly lost a rare gem, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend who will be sorely missed. We know with certainty that there has been a buzz in Heaven since the arrival of a beautiful angel who will continue to watch over us until we meet again and never part.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal…Love leaves a memory no one can steal…Forgetting you, never Mum!!!

 You  live on in our memories…May her gentle soul rest in peace! Amen!
